Olivia Sarmiento
Senior Teacher - Hip Hop

Olivia comes to Maples Academy of Dance with a well-rounded dance background and an expertise in Hip Hop.  She has years of performance and teaching experience, and has choreographed numerous award-winning competitive level pieces throughout her teaching career.  

Olivia's fun and unique choreography both challenge her students and entertains audiences. Her piece "When The Blessings Go Up" was the recipient of a 2018 Choreography Award at Leap! National Dance Competition in the USA.

Olivia continues to grow her Hip Hop repertoire, performing with the acclaimed group Legacy, under the direction of local choreographer, Wayne Santos, and has also had the opportunity travel to learn from artists like Mia Michaels, Tyce Diorio, Cris Judd, Gil Duldulao, Dave Scott, and Laurie Ann Gibson. 

While dance is Olivia’s greatest passion, she has also completed university studies with degrees in Theatre & Film and Kinesiology at the University of Winnipeg, and is continue to pursue her studies in Education.
