Maples Academy of Dance operates under the direction of Shauna Jurczak and Jamie Jurczak. This sister duo has over 25 years of combined dance experience. They come from different dance backgrounds and have combined their experience and creative concepts together, to create the amazing programs offered at Maples Academy of Dance.

Shauna Jurczak
Hip Hop, Lyrical, Jazz
Shauna started ballet at age 10 as part of her artistic gymnastics training. After many successful years of national and international gymnastic competition, Shauna turned to dance, studying as many forms of dance as she could.
Her performance back ground includes countless performances with the ZeE Crew Dance Company, Team Pink and the Blue Lightning Dance Team, as well as exciting live performances at NBA 3 on 3 events, and alongside artists like Nelly Furtado, the Black Eyed Peas, and Mobile. |

Jamie Jurczak
Ballet, Musical Theatre, Tap, Jazz
Jamie began dance at age 3. As a teenager, she was a member of the Winnipeg Contemporary Dancers Junior Professional Program. Following high School, Jamie left Winnipeg to pursue her studies in Law and became a member of the Ottawa University Varsity Dance Team while attending Law School.
Throughout her years of training, Jamie developed a flair for choreographing character pieces that fuse a variety of disciplines into one. |

Shauna holds a University Degree in Kinesiology and Communications, where she focused her studies on program development in dance for children. During university, she was the coach and choreographer for the University of Winnipeg's dance team. She has since gone on to choreograph for the Blue Lightning Dance Team and the Red River Rebels Dance Team, in conjunction with teaching regular studio classes in Winnipeg. Her high energy is a huge asset to all her classes and can be seen in her Hip Hop and Street Jazz choreography.
Outside of dance, Shauna works full time as an Event Manager and Fundraiser, and is a certified artistic gymnastics coach and experienced cheerleading instructor. |
Jamie has choreographed many scholarship-winning, award-winning and gold medal winning routines in jazz, tap, variety, and musical theatre, and several of her students have gone on to become members of the National Tap Dance Team, and star in independent Canadian films.
Jamie continues to perform in live theatre, participating annually in productions produced jointly with the Manitoba Bar Association and Manitoba Theatre Centre. Such shows include The Producers, Cabaret, Little Shop of Horrors and Chicago.
Outside of dance, Jamie is a Lawyer at Taylor McCaffrey LLP, where she practices Labour and Workplace Health and Safety Law. |

Wendy Jurczak (Mama J)
Office Manager
As long as her daughters have been involved in dance and gymnastics, Wendy has been involved as well. She has attended countless conventions and competitions, and of course, participated in many dance fundraisers and dance trips.
As a Registered Nurse, Wendy is naturally caring and compassionate. As a Dance Mom, she's encouraging and supportive. As the Office Manager, she provides great organization and balance for all the parents and students at Maples Academy of Dance. |

Kayla Kocian
Tap, Hip Hop
Kayla has been dancing since age three and has trained in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, musical theatre, hip hop and Irish dance.
She has been teaching since 2002 and will be specializing in tap at Maples Academy of Dance. She also teaches dance at Balmoral Hall School and Doreen Bissett School of Dance.
As a dancer, Kayla has won countless awards including Junior and Senior National Dance Scholarships in Irish dance and tap, and Most Technically Perfect Performance in tap at the Triple Threat Dance Convention.

Julie Hayward
Jazz, Lyrical
Julie began dancing as a way to supplement her training in rhythmic gymnastics. She enjoyed a very successful career as a member of the Canadian National Rhythmic Gymnastics team, travelling extensively and representing Canada a numerous international major games and competitions.
Following her career as a competitive gymnast, Julie continued to dance, competing at a national and international level in jazz, lyrical and ballet.
Julie brings intensity, creativity and a competitive spirit to Maples Academy of Dance and enjoys sharing her passion for dance with her students. |

Outside of dance, Kayla was an honours graduate from Murdoch Mackay Collegiate and graduated from Red River College's business program. |
Outside of dance, Julie holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology and practices as a Certified Athletic Therapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, who is heading into her 5th year with the Balmoral Hall School hockey program. She is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Biomechanics at the University of Manitoba. |

Brittany Pastrick
Ballet
Brittany began dancing at the age of 4 and has been trained in Ballet, Jazz, Pointe, Modern, Character and Historical Dance. At the age of 11 she was accepted into the Professional Division at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School where she had the privilege to perform in the ballet The Sleeping Beauty as well as dance with Prima Ballerina Evelyn Hart. She then moved onto the intensive program and the Competitive Jazz program at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
Brittany has completed Ballet exams in the Russian and Cecchetti styles of dance as well as Jazz exams. She has also competed in Minneapolis at the Los Angeles Dance Force Competition and the Provincial Dance Festival in Winnipeg throughout her career as a dancer. In which she has been in many gold medal winning pieces.
Brittany now takes adult classes at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet including Ballet and Modern.
Outside of dance, Brittany completed high school with the French International Baccalaureate certificate, she then moved on to the University of Manitoba to complete a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and is currently in the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba studying to become a middle years French Immersion teacher.

Krista Speer
Future Stars, Hip Hop
Krista has been dedicated to dance since the age of 4. She has had training in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, pointe and lyrical.
Krista has used her taining to perform in many local shows in Winnipeg. Krista has performed in Karen Lubas shows since the age of 4, she has competed in Manitoba's Provincial dance festivals doing solos, and group performances. She has also performed at the Teddy Bears Picnic and Triple Threat.
Outside of dance Krista works for Assiniboine Children's Centre as a Early Childhood Educator where she teaches hip-hop and jazz.
Krista is studying at Red River College completing her diploma in Early childhood Education, from there she hopes to get her degree inchild development.
Krista is excited to join Maples Dance Academy where she plans to bring forward her creativity and passion for dance. |

Krystle Seymour
Tap, Hip Hop
Krystle began dancing at age 3 and has studied ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and salsa. Her training in a variety of styles lead her to perform at local shows and as a member of the Royal Dance Conservatory's Platinum Performers.
As an instructor, she was awarded the "Teaching Assistant of the Year Award" while taking part in her teacher's training program, and has now been instructing as both a teaching assistant and in her own class dance for a combined 7 years.
Krystle brings forward a fun, friendly personality, along with professionalism and performance experience. |

Outside of dance, Krystle is a student at the University of Manitoba where she is persuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She also aspires to continue on in university, where she plans to study education. |
