Code of Conduct

Dress Code

All dancers at Maples Academy of Dance are expected to come to class prepared to dance in appropriate dance clothing and footwear.  This is done to ensure the safety of the dancer and allow for proper skill development.

Ballet
  • Bodysuit and tights
  • Ballet skirt
  • Pink ballet slippers

Jazz

  • Bodysuit or dance top
  • Dance pants, tights or shorts
  • Black jazz shoes

Hip Hop

  • Indoor runners
  • Dance pants, shorts or sweats
  • T-shirt or tank top
  • No jeans or bare feet

Future Stars

  • Bodysuit or dance top
  • Tights
  • Dance pants, shorts or skirt
  • Ballet and tap shoes

Tap

  • Bodysuit or dance top
  • Dance pants, tights or shorts
  • Tap shoes

Lyrical/Modern/Acro

  • Bodysuit or dance top
  • Dance pants, tights or shorts
  • Bare feet or foot-thongs

Open/Musical Theatre

  • Jazz shoes
  • Dance pants, shorts or sweats
  • T-shirt or tank top
  • No jeans or bare feet
  • *Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun for all classes
  • *No Jewellery to be worn during classes

Code of Conduct

All dancers and parents are expected to understand and adhere to the following code of conduct and regulations:

  • Placement of students will be decided by the teacher. Placement is dependent upon class size and ability. Placement will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
  • Maples Academy of Dance reserves the right to cancel any classes due to lack of enrollment.
  • Students are required to come to class in the appropriate attire and footwear as outlined in the dress code.  Students who do not come to class wearing appropriate attire may be asked to sit out by the discretion of the teacher.
  • Parents are allowed to watch classes only during open rehearsals at the discretion of the instructor and studio directors.
  • Teachers are not to be addressed by parents during a class.  During class, the teachers focus should be on the students.  
  • No drinks, food, gum or candy allowed in the studios.  Water bottles are permitted.
  • Please help keep bathrooms and change rooms clean.
  • If students/parents have any questions and/or concerns with the teachers, please meet with Jamie Jurczak or Shauna Jurczak.
  • If a student is unable to attend any class, please call the studio prior to the start of that class.
  • Be a positive role model in the community.
  • HAVE FUN!

Any parent or student creating conflicts or making derogatory comments towards other parents, students or teachers will result in the student being removed from class permanently.
