CALLING ALL DANCERS!

 

Join our Elite Team and represent Maples Academy of Dance on the competition stage. Members of our Elite Team compete at multiple competitions each spring and make up our “Performance Team”. This prestigious opportunity also gives team dancers additional workshop and performance opportunities throughout the dance season.

Dancers interested in representing our studio in solo, duet, trio and handpicked group dances must attend the open tryouts for the 2024-25 Elite Team on June 19, 2024 from 6pm-8pm.

Please note: current Maples Academy of Dance students who have been pre-placed in elite level groups on their report cards are not required to try out for group classes they are already placed in.
 

About Tryouts

• Dancers will participate in a group warmup and conditioning session, giving them an opportunity to display their athletic strength, flexibility, and focus in a group setting.

• Dancers will then perform their solo to the selection panel. Note: other dancers will not be in the room for this portion.

• Dancers need to come prepared with their own self-choreographed 30-60 second dance to perform, highlighting their strengths as a performer in their chosen style. Dancers are not permitted to re-use any 2024 Maples Academy of Dance Choreography from recital/the 2024 competitive season.

• Note if dancers are trying out for multiple styles, it is encouraged their solo performance incorporates all said styles, whenever possible.

• Dancers will need to bring a copy of their music if they did not upload it with their tryout application. Note: the selection panel will not provide music unless it has been uploaded with an application. If dancer does not upload their music, or bring their own, they will be required to perform without music.

• Dancers should come prepared to perform with appropriate hair, dancewear, and overall performance presentation.

• Results from the tryout will be emailed to all participants within 3 weeks of the tryout date.
